FRESCO4NoPain Consortium

The FRESCO4NoPain consortium consists of world-leading experts in pain neuroscience, cutting-edge MedTech companies, knowledge actors and end-users, with the same ambition and commitment: to train the future generation of pain scientists to address the unmet challenges within chronic pain.

There is a good balance between academic and non-academic institutions with competences within basic neurocircuits of pain and neuromodulation, physiology, neuroanatomy, neuropharmacology, biochemistry, electrophysiology as well as in vitro and in vivo models. The consortium also fosters experts in experimental human pain and neuromodulation, providing the consortium crucial experience with neuro-navigated neuromodulation, non-invasive neurorecording techniques as well as experts within neuroplasticity and biomedical engineering. Additionally, the team brings essential clinical research expertise, contributing insights into neurology, pain pathophysiology, assessment, management, treatment, epidemiology, diagnostics, and clinical trials.

The consortium benefits from a diverse set of non-academic partners, spanning the entire value chain from cutting-edge research to the commercialization of innovations in pain medicine. These associated partners contribute with expertise in research design, animal experimentation, data science, clinical development, and regulatory pathways for medical solutions. High-tech industry partners provide insights into industrial applications, technology development, and strategic planning. Furthermore, key organisations bridge the gap between healthcare practitioners, researchers, and patients, ensuring multi-professional, evidence-based guidance throughout the project.
